Summer Wedding Inspiration

Summer Wedding Inspiration

Need a little summer wedding inspiration? Petals trailing from a bouquet creates a luxurious, natural rose petal confetti. Our couples tell us that the sensation of fresh rose petals falling on them is simply delicious. Petals can be made a couple of days in advance, provided they are stored in a refrigerator, by gently removing the petals from some spare roses.

Our roses are stunning on their own in a classic hand-tied bouquet, whether displayed in the bud or as fully open blooms. Some of the most charming bouquets are created by combining David Austin’s roses with other flowers that share some of their spirit. English Roses will associate perfectly with most cottage garden flowers, herbs and foliage to create natural garden-inspired bouquets.

The lush pink buds of CONSTANCE roses are accented by light pink and white lisianthus, lavender lathyrus (sweet peas), ivy leaves and sprigs of rosemary. The tiara’s soft, sensitive appeal complements the bridal bouquet’s showy display of more fully opened blooms.

The deep rosy pink outer petals of the evocative EDITH rose give way to an intensely fragrant center filled with shades of gold, peach and yellow. Peeking between them in this bride’s crown are grey-green stems of wheat, bright yellow bulpleurum and deep burgundy galax leaves.

Several shades of buttery yellow petals fill each charming BEATRICE bloom, framing the long loose locks of this young flower girl. The headpiece features Beatrice roses accented with tips of purple larkspur, white stephanotis and the deep green leaves of Italian ruscus. The lovely fruity scent of the roses and a hint of citrus (from the stephanotis) surrounds her.

Unexpected and Utterly Gorgeous Wedding Décor

Unexpected and Utterly Gorgeous Wedding Décor

We, at David Austin Roses, have had the pleasure of seeing our garden roses utilized to create stunning weddings around the globe. Whether an intimate rustic wedding or a glamorous wedding wonderland, roses and other flowers provide a sense of beauty and color like no other form of wedding décor. Here are nine of our favorite wedding floral designs from recent weddings, including some very creative and eye-catching ideas.
For a charming “Cosmopolitan” look, try an oversized martini glass to hold flower arrangements. Featuring the rose pink Miranda rose with astonishing 120 petals per rose, these arrangements are above eye-level, so guests can easily engage each other in conversation as the night progresses.

With monograms and inspirational phrases becoming all the more popular at nuptials, floral designers are using greenery and roses to give initials and words special emphasis. Patience’s cupped shape with 165 petals in each rose made the perfect fit for this rustic iron display of “LOVE.”

At a rustic outdoor wedding in the spring, our soft pink Charity rose was featured in a creative test-tube chandelier hanging from a tree overlooking the ceremony. This was certainly an unexpected piece of wedding décor, and we love how the roses hung from the tree, allowing the wind to waft their delicious fragrance throughout the area where the ceremony took place. Show this and other creative photos to your floral designer, to plan “unexpected” décor arrangements that are utterly gorgeous!

Cakes Galore!

Cakes Galore!

The history of the wedding cake dates back to Ancient Rome when the groom would break a loaf of bread over his bride’s head as a symbol of good fortune. Today, bread crumbs aside, wedding cakes have become a staple element, and quite the treat, during wedding ceremonies and receptions. Below, we have shared a few wedding cake trends that can help make the cake design or selection process just a bit easier.

Timeless & Tiered with a Twist

White, tiered weddings cakes were considered a luxury symbol of status in earlier centuries. To honor this “something old” tradition while adding a sweet touch of “something new,” this smooth, chic cake has our lovely Keira garden rose inserted between the elevated tiers, providing pale pink and cream hues to this soft color palette.
